Special Meeting held with Jackson County Board

Attending: Bill Kelly, Mary Nell Chew, Water L. Brieschke, John Hastings, and Chairman of the Crab Orchard Water District at the invitation of Bill Kelly.

I ran down the financial and personnel condition of Buncombe Public Water District for these people (Audit and SHWD 6 month requirements). Explained the need to have board members appointed when their terms expire and the need to appoint responsible people to the positions. Also, asked Mr. Kelly what exactly were his powers over the water districts – his only power is to appoint members RE: Public Utilities Act of Illinois.

He asked us to get him from six to ten filled out applications for the appointment to our water board – we said we would try.

Mr. Kelly also pointed out that this is the only water district in Jackson County that he has had any trouble with (re: management problems and willingness of people to serve on the board) he has a waiting list of up to 15 people for each of the other water districts in Jackson County.

Mrs. Chew will try to straighten out the mess in the court house records so that we can have our Board Members straightened out hopefully by the Jackson County Board’s next meeting on 12 September 1979.
