Meeting Minutes of May 13, 1997
Chairman Richard Jumps called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. A roll call vote was taken and present were: Chairman Richard Jumps, Vice Chairman Stanley Hollister, and Mrs. Donna Williams. Also present were visitors Mayor Bill Ross of Makanda, Mr. Gary Blumenstock of the IRWA, and employees Ron Lada and Karen Townsend. There was an insufficient number of board members present to constitute a quorum.
Conversation continued with Mr. Blumenstock of the IRWA. Discussed was the consistent, heavy condensation problem within the tower and possible damage to interior of tower, recalibration of the master meter; types of insurance coverage for the tower; in addition to answering a number of miscellaneous district related questions. Mr. Blumenstock and Ron Lada checked the master meter followed by related discussion. Also stated was stated that it was mandatory for a parent company to notify another supplying company when a boil order is in effect.
Mayor Ross’s questions were then addressed related to existing water line in the area of Cracker’s Neck in downtown Makanda. A proposal was accepted by the village to place a bridge over the culvert to make the road, once again, accessible. Mayor Ross questioned the procedure required to move existing lines and the financial responsibility of the project. It was suggested by the board that Mayor Ross consult with an Engineer prior to beginning the project. Other discussion related to location of the existing line, possibilities for the move and the risk of freezing under the bridge is not insulated.
Due to the lack of a quorum, Chairman Jumps approved the bills for payment.
