Minutes – Buncombe Public Water District Board Meeting called to order

4: 30 p.m.

The L. D. Fern Construction contract expiring April 20, 1977, the following places need to be checked and corrected:

Richard Jackson’s

McGuire Road – 1/2 mile west Ira Heern – in front

Homer Casteel – in front

There are 3 bills from George Sides for work L. D. Fern contracted George to do, which we need to be reimbursed for. The bills are, on 12/2/76 for

$52.50, on 1/1/77 for $100.00, and 1/27/77 for $252.50.

Letters of Protest discussed:

Susan Brieschke: For March bill of $95.53, it was decided to charge a new minimum bill of $2.00 per thousand gallons, no minimum of $9.00 and no late fee, being $69.60 fir 34,810 gallons used.

John Newsome: Hot water heater broken, board decided not responsible according to attorney.

Mrs. Baren: Current bill being $272.80, was decided to charge $2.00 per thousand gallons, no $9.00 minimum and no late fee. 105,705 gallons used minimum at $2.00 per thousand being thirty days from 4/14/77 to pay in $21..41 in full or a lien will be placed against the house.

George Sides, May deduct $72.50 for labor said owed to him by board for February, from water bill if paid by May 1, 1977 or water will be cut off.

Barbara Schauwecker has a quote on insurance for Public Officials Liability for 1 million in coverage at 1 thousand per year. Cannot afford at this time, sample policy kept for reference.

Two seats are vacant ·on board, Wayman suggested to contact Jack Earl and see if he’s interested.
