Meeting Minutes of June 8, 1980
Regular meeting of the Buncombe Public Water District was called to order at 7:25 p.m. by Chairman W. Brieschke. At roll call the following members were present: Simpson, Schauwecker, McCleland, Jackson, and Brieschke. Absent: Hastings and Hawkins. Guests: Mr. and Mrs. Doug Mayer and Millie Weatherford.
Minutes and financial reports were approved and accepted.
Bills were presented followed by a motion by Jackson, seconded by Schauwecker that bills be paid as money is available. Vote: all members present at roll call voted yeas, two absent.
Secretary/Treasurer report: Board was informed that interest amounting to $5,850.00 was due and paid to FHA 1 July 1980. Mr. Warren Hull was again contacted on the cathodic protection for water tower. Contractor will contact Nannie. Meter locks were ordered and received. Padlocks will follow.
At this time, Simpson proposed that secretary prepare copies for the board of the first six months of water sales and water purchases.
Discussion on installment payments on new taps when customer approaches the board for such a method of payment. Simpson proposed that district charge $200.00 down payment, $40.00 a month plus water bill and carrying charges for no more than 11 months. After some discussion the board agreed to the proposal as the most agreeable.
Chairman presented for board reading and review a rough draft of a letter to be sent to customers with dead taps and verified as existing and non-paying. Letter was approved and accepted. Brieschke will add a paragraph concerning lump sum payments.
Since there was no more pressing business, motion by Simpson, seconded by McCleland that meeting be adjourned. Vote: all members present voted yeas, two absent. Meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
