Meeting Minutes of February 11, 1997
Chairman Richard Jumps called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. A roll call was taken and present were: Chairman Richard Jumps, Vice Chairman Stanley Hollister, Mrs. Donna Williams, Mr. Alan McCaslin and Mr. Herbert Donow. Also present were employees Ron Lada and Karen Townsend.
The meeting opened with the review of the minutes of January 1997. A motion was made by Mr. McCaslin to accept the minutes as presented. Seconded by Mrs. Williams, and with 5 yes and 0 no votes, the minutes were approved.
Errors in meter readings were discussed briefly and it was suggested that checks be done randomly to insure accuracy.
Correspondence addressed was a letter from the Indiana Insurance Company recommending a fire extinguisher upgrade and an annual electrical clerk after their recent inspection. A letter of compliance was also requested. An agreement from McCLoud was discussed for weed control in 1997 which quoted slightly higher than last year. A motion was made by Vice Chairman Hollister to accept the proposal as presented. Seconded by Mr. McCaslin, and after 5 yes and 0 no votes, the motion carried. A letter from GE Capital was discussed requiring a response as to the reasons for the financial shortfall in 1995. Karen Townsend to respond to this request.
Old Business discussed was the current lien on the Jack Allen property and requests made to both the District Office and Attorney’s Office in Mr. Allen’s pursuit to settle.
Next item on the agenda was to review the financials prepared by the Kemper CPA Group for December and calendar year, 1996.
The voltage control system and need for a 3-phase upgrade at the pump station was briefly discussed. Original quote from Egyptian Electric was in January 1996 at approximately $18,000. Discussed getting an update on the bid and from the other possible sources such as Flanders.
The Secretary/Treasurer’s Report was presented by Karen Townsend along with the Accounts Payable Report detailing bills for payment in February. Also discussed was from which account(s) funds should be taken for the 3-phase wiring update. Two of the Certificate of Deposits will be maturing in March; A list of CD and savings rates was requested for presentation at the next board meeting. An additional $1,000 was required to pay bills. It was suggested these funds be taken from the Legal Refund Account and paid back to that account the following month. A motion was then made by Mr. Donow to accept the Secretary/Treasurer report, transfer $1,000 from Legal to Operations/Maintenance with intention to pay back next month, and pay the bills as presented. Seconded by Vice Chairman Hollister, and with 5 yes and 0 no votes, the motion was carried.
Ron Lada presented the Water Supply Operator Report noting that all tests were completed with no related problems. Ron to pick up fire extinguishers which meet the code indicated by the Indiana Insurance Company.
No new ordinances were reviewed at this time.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Vice Chairman Hollister for adjournment and seconded by Mrs. Williams. A voice vote was taken and with 5 yes and 0 no votes, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35pm.
